Narrator Here we have Philip, the father to Glyn and Luke. Philip has just announced that he has reached the end of a long running successful property development company. He is now looking to hand on the business. Glyn is the eldest son and he knows that his father will pass the business to him and his younger brother, Luke.
Luke is not so wise and he gets an angry feeling that he may not get a share of his father’s wealth.
Luke I don’t understand father, I have been with you all this time, I want my share, my half of the business, give me what is mine
Glyn Calm down, what is ours will come in time

Father Both of you, please sit down, I will happily give you my business divided equally between the two of you
Luke Arr, good, its about time you saw sense
Father I trust you will be wise, work together, keeping he family name respectable as it always has been

Father passes them the deeds to his business and the boys walk off together, talking.
Luke What will you do now, brother, with your wealth?
Glyn Exactly what father said, keep our business going, strong and respectable, together we can make good of what we have been given in faith
Luke Oh no, I don’t think so, I intend to leave this rubbish country and live properly as a man with money should. I will sell my half as soon as possible and go.

Narrator So Luke sells all his inheritance and soon after leaves the country for America’s big city life. There he flaunts his wealth, gambling, driving flash cars and indulging in women and alcohol, not thinking of his spending he soon finds he is in debt and the collector is at his door.
Debt C. Mr. Finn, I’m from the collection agency here to collect what you owe, do you have it?
Luke err… I told you I’ll get it in time, please….
Debt C Times up we now have the authority to take items amounting up to the sum owed, excuse me Mr. Finn. (Picks up table and leaves)
Narrator Having lost his car, his home, Luke ends up with nothing and on the streets wishing that he had taken his father’s advice. Begging on the streets he is at the lowest he could go.

Narrator Carl makes his way home back to his father’s house, what will his father do or say? Will he turn him away?
Luke walks around the audience, father watching and pacing back and forth
Father It cannot be, Son.. is that you…

Luke Father, I’m so sorry, I’ve failed you and blew, all you gave me I’ve wasted, I’m so sorry, I’m not worthy of the family name
Father Come, I’ll take you home, there you can get out of these dreadful clothes and get washed and fed .. come
Narrator So the father takes his son back home under his wing and decides to celebrate his return
Father Please son take a seat, here have a drink with me
Luke But father, you’ve had this bottle for many years, I remember it being here as a child, why would you open it now?
Father I have been saving his wine for a special day such as this.
Luke But father I’ve betrayed you, I’m not worthy of …
Father Yes son you did wrong but now you area back I’m happy to see you here, now no ‘buts’ drink!
Glyn walks in from work
Glyn I’m home, its been a good day today father, we’ve sold a lot of property, I think you’ll….

Luke gets up to go, father restrains him

Glyn stomps off enraged, father follows

Father Yes son you’ve been here all this time and all that I have is yours. We have to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of your was dead and is alive again, he was lost and is now found, be happy for him

Glyn walks off, father returns to Luke, they continue drinking
Narrator So Glyn will never understand that his father loves his son who was lost but now is found, his prodigal son.
